
Prof. dr. Marianne J. Nieuwenhuijze RM MPH
Short biography
I am currently working as Professor of Midwifery and Head of the Research Centre for Midwifery Science at Zuyd University, Maastricht, Netherlands. I have a background as a community and hospital midwife. I have management experience in research and education, and have been the project leader of successful research projects with various sources of funding, including (inter)national grants. I have been a member of National Committee for Interprofessional Obstetric guidelines (Verloskundige Indicatie Lijst) (2009-2014), and am a technical advisor on behalf of the ICM in several maternity care committees of the World Health Organization.
My research expertise includes (shared) decision-making in maternity care, perinatal mental health, public health, evidence-based medicine, interprofessional collaboration in maternity care and ethics in maternity care. I have contributed to this with over 50 scientific publications.
