
Prof dr Carlo Schuengel
Short biography
- Carlo Schuengel is chair of Clinical Child and Family Studies at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and vice-director of Amsterdam Public Health research institute of Amsterdam UMC and Vrije Universiteit.
- His research focuses on parenting, attachment, and development of children within the system of youth care and long term care for people with intellectual disability. Research methodologies include longitudinal cohort studies, RCTs, Nof1 trials, (individual participant data) meta-analysis, and participatory action research.
- Carlo leads the Academic Collaborative Center ‘s Heeren Loo – VU (at the interface of long-term care for people with intellectual disability and research). Recent recognitions include APS fellow in 2018 and the Bowlby-Ainsworth Senior Award in 2019.
