Biography

Mijke received her medical degree from the University of Amsterdam (1997), her psychiatric training from the Department of Psychiatry, Erasmus MC (2004), her master in Genetic Epidemiology from the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (2005) and her training in child & adolescent psychiatry from the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Erasmus MC – Sophia (2006). She received a PhD degree within the Generation R Study on ‘Parental psychopathology and the early developing child’ (2006).

 

She currently works as a psychiatrist and child & adolescent psychiatrist at the Departments of Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology, at the Erasmus Medical Center. She combines her clinical and scientific work within the fields of perinatal psychiatry and infant mental health.

 

She is founder of the Netherlands Knowledge Center of Perinatal Psychiatry and is/was member of the board of the Section Child and Adolescence Psychiatry of the Dutch Psychiatric Association, the Dutch Association for Infant Mental Health and the Dutch Society for Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is also involved in the EU COST action CA18138 – Research Innovation and Sustainable Pan-European Network in Peripartum Depression Disorder (RISEUP-PPD).

 

Mijke has a special interest in transgenerational aspects of psychopathology, with a focus on perinatal psychiatry, genetic epidemiology and parent-child interaction in parents with a psychiatric disorder. Among other research projects, she currently investigates the effect of EMDR for pregnancy related PTSD during and after pregnancy and its effect on mother-child interaction.
