Fobelets Maaike, PhD

 

Maaike Fobelets is a midwife and currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and a senior researcher and coordinator at the Erasmus University College Brussels. She teaches qualitative research courses at the VUB. Her research expertise is focussed on health economic questions in women’s health and mental health during the perinatal period. She was involved in a European Union 7th framework programme called OptiBIRTH. OptiBIRTH was an innovative programme to improve maternal health service delivery and optimise childbirth by improving VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) based on different evidence based strategies. In addition, she performed health economic evaluations for the Flemish government to evaluate the effectiveness of the screening programmes of breast-, colorectal- and cervical cancer including a systematic review and health economic modelling of each screening programme.
